Toby Glick Joins NYC Private Schools Blog as a Contributor

by NYC Private Schools on August 30, 2009

Toby GlickWe are excited to announce that Toby Glick, who runs ParentConfidante Special Needs Consulting, will join us as a regular blog contributor in the area of families with special needs (occupational, speech, neuropsychological, physical, developmental).

Toby Glick, MS, is the founder and president of ParentConfidante Special Needs Consulting. ParentConfidante Special Needs Consulting is a unique firm that helps children meet their maximum potential and helps parents at every step along the way. Toby is always there to advise parents regarding the evaluations, services, schools and providers that will make a real difference in the lives of their children.

Toby is a school psychologist and a trained psychotherapist with over 30 years of experience in New York area schools working with children at every academic level. She is a former Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) and Committee on Special Education (CSE) Chairperson as well as a long-time advocate for special needs children and their parents.

ParentConfidante evolved from Toby’s experience as both a school psychologist and CSE and CPSE Chair. She found that when a child was first suspected of having or was diagnosed with special needs, parents were often overwhelmed, worried and confused. They were bombarded by contradictory advice from special needs evaluators, family and friends and didn’t know where to turn. She also found that even when children were receiving services, their parents were concerned that they weren’t getting maximum benefit or what they really needed.

Toby realized that the parents of special needs children needed an unbiased, behind-the-scenes advocate who would answer all of their questions and give them expert advice. That unfulfilled, critical need led to Toby’s starting ParentConfidante. Toby now acts as the trusted, expert, and caring advisor her client families need. Toby blogs at parentconfidanteblog.typepad.com.
