St. Joseph-St. Thomas School is a Catholic elementary school operated by the parish by the same name, which is located in Staten Island and operates under the Archdiocese of New York. The school serves preschool through eighth grade.
Opened in 1966, the school initially only served first through fourth grades. The first kindergarten class was opened in 1988 and the first preschool class in 1989.
The preschool program at St. Joseph-St. Thomas is open to three and four year olds.
Kindergarten through eighth grade has one class per grade with an average 32 students per class. Pioneer Bus Company provides free bus service for all students. Students in all grades attend Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
The school’s mission is to provide a Christ-centered education focused on academics and spiritual development. Educators try to get each student to see their self worth by focusing on Christian values.
The school newspapers is called The Green & Gold Gazette.
In addition to religious education and traditional academics, St. Joseph-St. Thomas School provides opportunities for students to get involved in sports at various levels. Sports programs offered through the school include:
