The mission of the Highbridge Advisory Council Family Services, which serves the greater Highbridge neighborhoods of Bronx, includes the following services:
- Child care
- Head Start
- Universal Pre-K
- Family day care
- Preschool special education
If your child is 2 years old to 5 years old, then you can take advantage of HACs child care services. The program goes beyond merely babysitting. Children in HACs child care program get a boost in cognitive development and language acquisition.
The HAC Head Start program focuses on making children “socially competent.” Children enter a supportive learning environment and learn to respect their and others’ differences culturally. They develop along their own natural curve socially, physically, cognitively, and emotionally.
Universal Pre-K is an opportunity for 4 year olds to gain access to better child care opportunities that help to enhance their cognitive development and prepare them for preschool.
Family day care is a program that allows young children an opportunity to grow within a social group. Children interact with others in small group settings in an environment that mimics the family environment.
The preschool special education program is a multidisciplinary educational opportunity for preschool-age children. Children receive bilingual or monolingual speech therapy as needed. There is also monolingual and bilingual counseling available, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and related services. Children who have or are suspected of having a disability as defined by Section 4410 of Article 89 of the Education Law can be enrolled.
HAC administers services across 10 campuses located in the Bronx.
