Immanuel Genius Educational Center is a preschool located in Flushing, New York. The school offers a preschool curriculum, an after school program for older children, and a summer school program.
The preschool curriculum seeks to prepare students for a lifelong educational experience while readying them for elementary school and beyond. The curriculum is called Immanuel Creative and includes a multisenory approach to education focusing on visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile learning styles. Curricular themes take up a full week of learning throughout the school year. A major component of the curriculum is language development and staff teach children letter and phonemic awareness along with vocabulary development. Also included in the curriculum are music and art, and movement.
The morning begins with circle time, which consists of prayer and patriotic songs. Children also read, write in their notebooks, play outdoors, practice Tae Kwon Do and ballet, and learn about computers and music.
The after school program for school age children offers homework help, English and math enrichment, and test preparation. Children get personalized attention in a small group setting. Special activities include ballet and tap dance, Tae Kwon Do, music lessons, and art classes.
Summer school has two components, one for preschool children and one for grade school children through grade 7. Preschoolers enjoy their own circle time with many of the same components as traditional school year preschool while grade school participants enjoy a morning and afternoon session consisting of quality personal time in a small group setting.
