The Julia M. Nicholson Leadership Academy takes the motto “It takes a village to raise a child” seriously. The school is located in Brooklyn and offers nursery school, pre-K, kindergarten, and elementary school through eighth grade. School is in session from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily. There is also a day care and an after school program until 6 p.m.
The curriculum at Julia M. Nicholson Leadership Academy is a well rounded curriculum. The staff try to learn each child’s learning style. They keep the students engaged through fun lessons that teach them skills they can carry with them to the next level of their education.
Classes include:
- Language Arts featuring phonics
- Reading
- Social studies with map skills
- Music, Art, and Drama
- Physical education
- Mathematics with Algebra
- Religion, with hands-on community service
- Science with Lab (starting in 5th grade)
- Technology program
The school will also soon be getting smart boards in the classrooms.
Julia M. Nicholson Leadership Academy has two active campuses. One is located at 2 Van Sinderen Avenue in Brooklyn and the other is at 121 Riverdale Avenue in Brooklyn. The classes are kept small so that students can have more personal one-on-one time with teachers.
The curriculum at Julia M. Nicholson fosters curiosity and creativity. Students have fun learning and develop a deep knowledge of the subjects they take in class.
