Middle School Focus On The Allen-Stevenson School

The Allen-Stevenson School focuses on educating young men with the intent on turning them from boys into gentlemen scholars that have the drive and ambition to succeed at whatever endeavors they later attempt. This is done through the promotion of good habits, exposure to positive role models and a solid foundation in Academics, Arts and Athletics. At The Allen-Stevenson School, Middle School is considered to be grades 4 through 6.

Young men are given the opportunity at The Allen-Stevenson School to begin trying new in the hopes of discovering what will become lifelong passions. In addition to a solid academic foundation centered around math, English and science, there is also an emphasis on later educational pursuits via the instruction in study skills. The students at The Allen-Stevenson School are taught how to study, which maximizes future success. A foreign language is also introduced at the middle school level, French or Spanish. Within the science program, there is emphasis on laboratory work; something not normally found until students reach the upper level in most schools.

The arts are also considered to be of high importance to students at The Allen-Stevenson School. Art classes, Music lessons and Drama are just a few of the offerings. There is a theater department, chorus and orchestra. All students have the option of both classroom music classes as well as classes in specific instruments.

Rounding out the 3A program at The Allen-Stevenson School is athletics. The students have both the obligatory physical education classes as well as opportunities for team sports, wellness training and dance. The school places high emphasis on sports to build teamwork and physical health.
