The Montessori School of New York International is a full-time Montessori-based educational center accepting students from the ages of 2 through 14 in the boroughs of Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens in New York City. The school has operating hours of 9am to 3pm for full days, 8am to 6pm for extended days and 9am to 12pm or 1pm to 4pm for half days. The school is open all year with a special summer camp from June through August.

The educational approach of the Montessori School of New York International is the traditional Montessori one developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. Children are in ungraded classes and work at a pace that is essentially self-directed. This is based on particular interests and development. Children are encouraged to explore their world and the school encourages art, drama and music.

At the preschool level, the Montessori approach is to have classes made up of children ranging from the age of 2 through 6. The children play together and this teaches older children to help the younger ones, models behavior to younger students and decreases the need for grade competition. The goal is to prepare children for further learning after Montessori.

The activities of the Montessori School of New York International range from language programs in French and Spanish, Dance, music, arts and beginning reading, science and math skills. There is ample opportunity for both indoor and outdoor play in both small and large groups. Field trips to the Botanic Gardens, Museums, the Zoo and galleries are all part of the Montessori tradition.
