New York Kids Club is an arts-based preschool program that accepts children from the age of 2 months to 5 years for a wide variety of programs within their system based on the age of the child. There are several locations throughout the city and parents may select the one closest to their home provided there is room at that facility.
The New York Kids Club places an equal emphasis on the arts and academics; the theory being that strong bodies create strong minds. There is an emphasis on play and the arts before introducing academics. Music, drama, cooking, and gymnastics are the focus of the day for children in the preschool. There are specialized instructors for culinary arts, yoga and gymnastics.
In addition to the arts, New York Kids Club stresses positive social skills. There is a zero tolerance policy for biting and hitting with time-outs being used for transgressions.
The academics vary based on the age of the child but beginning reading, writing, math and science are stressed among the youngest children and developed further with the older children. The primary goal of the staff is to instill a love of learning that the child will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
The club’s operating hours are Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm however parents may choose a modified program of fewer days per week. Lunch and snacks are provided by the school. There is an after care program that extends the day by one hour and allows parents to pick up their child at 4pm.
