Niecia’s Day Care of Throggs Neck is a play-based daycare in the Bronx that has added a preschool curriculum for parents wishing more academic preparation for their preschool age children. The day care accepts children from the ages of 6 weeks to 12 years and is open all year.
The primary philosophy of Niecia’s Day Care is that children should be about the business of play. To that end, their core philosophy is:
Kids are kids, and to be kids they have to play, to play they get dirty, getting dirty means they had fun, when they have fun they are happy, when they are happy we have done our job!
This philosophy is evident even in their preschool learning. While children will be taught basic reading, math and science, this will be done in a more hands on approach through nature walks, cooking and storytelling. Everything taught will be more child led than adult led and age appropriate toys, games, books and learning take precedence over academia. All in all, it’s a fun learning environment for small children.
Niecia’s Day Care is open year round, Monday through Friday from 7:30am until 5:30 pm though arrangements can be made for earlier or later times. There is also emergency care in the event parents need a safe place to leave their child in a hurry. The entire staff is licensed/certified and there is an open door policy for parents. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided. Dinner can also be provided for a small additional charge.
