Private School Organizations: ISAAGNY

by NYC Private Schools on December 22, 2008

Many private schools ally themselves with educational organizations such as the
NYSAIS or ISAAGNY organization. Many parents email us to request more information
about these organizations and how they play a roll in the private schools throughout
New York and so we are discussing and highlighting some of these groups to give
a broader view of what the offer parents, students, and the schools themselves.

ISAAGNY:

ISAAGNY stands for the Independent School Admission Association of Greater New York.

ISAAGNY is a non-profit association of early childhood and ongoing schools that
grew out of the need to clarify the process of applying to independent schools and
make the transition between schools easier for applicants and their families.
ISAAGNY offers fee reductions on Educational Record Bureau testing fees to families
who qualify for financial assistance.

ISAAGNY serves its member schools by setting guidelines on matters of common interest,
such as notification dates, and conducting workshops to increase professionalism
and encourage cooperation among schools.

ISAAGNY schools include programs from early childhood through high school. In the
higher grades independent school objectives are not just about high test scores,
college acceptances, or sports and arts achievements. They offer advanced and eclectic
courses, as well as extra-curricular activities that are essential to a well-rounded
individual. While specific independent schools’ missions vary, parents can expect
a wide array of offerings within the academic, arts, and athletic areas at any independent
school.

ISAAGNY schools are wide ranging and include schools such as Dalton, Collegiate,
Horace Mann and Packer.
