Focus On Promise World Daycare

by NYC Private Schools on August 1, 2012

Promise World Daycare is a Russian/English bilingual daycare in Brooklyn that accepts children from the ages of 2 to 6 in a creative environment that strives to prepare children for future success. The daycare is open from 7:30 in the morning until 6pm. Three meals are served along with snacks.

While children primarily learn through play at Promise World Daycare, there are two 1-hour lesson periods per day. One is a Russian language class and the other is an educational lesson that may be on many subjects depending on the interests of the children. In the past, educational lessons have included:

  • Arts and crafts
  • ScienceĀ
  • Playing in sand and water
  • Language and learning to read
  • Playing with blocks
  • Dramatic play using the imagination
  • Music and dance
  • Computer Time
  • Cooking
  • Problem solving, logical skills development and math
  • Social studies
  • Safety and health
  • Personal care skills

Gross and fine motor skill development are sought and the children not only participate in painting, drawing and pre-writing, but to tone their gross motor skills thy are given ample playtime both indoors and out. Weather permitting, children have two outdoor play periods per day.

Parents are encouraged to visit and take an active role in both the education of their child, but also in the daycare itself. The daycare works to create a family atmosphere so that both parents and children feel secure with the environment. Children are viewed as individuals, and while group activities predominate, there is also time for the child to develop his or her own skills and play independently.
