Prospect Kids Academy is a Montessori inspired Brooklyn preschool accepting children ages 2 through 5. This Park Slope school utilizes a mixed age grouping as a way to reinforce learned concepts and the modeling of appropriate behavior.
Prospect Kids Academy believes that children learn by doing and that following a familiar routine is best. The days have a structure that includes set times for snacks, naps and stories. Playtime is both group and individual. Toys and games are age appropriate and allow for the children to grow and develop at their own pace.
Children learn by doing at Prospect Kids Academy through the enriched curriculum. The curriculum is varied but children are exposed to the following on a regular basis:
- Cooking
- Music
- Social Studies
- Math
- Science
- Literacy
- Readiness skills
- Creative play
- Arts and Crafts
Children are also allowed outdoor play to complement their indoor play. Regular field trips to local parks as well as field trips to local attractions such as the fire station make the time spent at Prospect Kids Academy memorable. The academic education is primarily play and story-based.
The school day is from 9am until 3pm, Monday through Friday. However, there are different schedules available. The earliest drop-off time is 8:30 am and the latest pick-up time is 6pm. The school year is from early September until late June. Children are given snacks and lunch. An 8-week-long Summer camp is available starting in late June about a week after the school lets out for the year.
