Riverdale Neighborhood House is a preschool and pre-Kindergarten that accepts children ages 3 and 4 in the Bronx. The facility is open from September through June with the option of care during the summer months. Riverdale Neighborhood House is open from 8am until 6pm and this includes after school care. There is also an after school care program available for school age children. The school day itself ends at 2:30.
There are several programs at Riverdale Neighborhood House depending on the age of the child. The program available for 3 year old children has the option of limited days and/or limited hours. Children can attend a half day or full day school and parents have the option of their child attending 2-3 days per week. The instructional method at this stage is primarily play-based with children learning through hands-on activities and play.
The 4 year old group is a universal pre-Kindergarten that prepares children for Kindergarten. Parents have the option of full or half day school and children can stay for after care if necessary. The latest time for late pickup from the school is 6pm. The Universal pre-Kindergarten program is funded by the New York Department of Education and is free of charge.
The after school program allows for parents to be worry free about their child after school. Children will be picked up at their respective schools and taken to Riverdale Neighborhood House where they will remain in a safe and fun environment until their parents pick them up. This program is available for school age children ages 5 through 12 and includes fun and games along with an environment conducive to learning.
