School Fund Donations

by NYC Private Schools on November 21, 2009

For many private NYC schools, the annual donation time is coming up, as is the annual discussion of why fund donations are needed, what percentage of parents are donating and how the schools are responding.

Many schools and parents are responding to the difficulty in financially affording tuition and donations, however many other families are finding themselves relatively unaffected by the economy and giving generously to their children’s schools.

Here are some examples of recent annual fund donations to varied Private Schools. The schools are from multiple tiers and supporting multiple levels of scholarship and FAA students.

$500
$3500
$1000
$5000
$10000

Many parents are giving less than $1000 this year to their private school’s annual fund due to financial concerns. In general families are keeping their donation amounts to themselves this year instead of talking about them in a more open way. For some, financial situations have changed dramatically and what was once a standard donation from them is simply unattainable this year.

Many school officials know the financial status of a family and if they are going through a difficult time. Rest assured that a $300.00 donation will be met with the same gratitude and graciousness as a $10,000 donation when it cost the families the same amount of effort to give.

Fund donations are used in a variety of ways, from providing FAA funds to maintaining facilities, purchasing new equipment, insurance, supplies, taxes, specialty programs and so much more.
