Focus On St. Clare Preschool

by NYC Private Schools on August 29, 2012

St. Clare Preschool is a Staten Island Catholic Preschool that accepts children ages 3 and 4 for their preschool program. There are several options for both part-day and full-day school as well as the option of having your child attend 2 or 3 days per week.

Children learn through both play-based activities as well as age appropriate academic activities at St. Clare, including pre-reading, pre-writing and math skills. There are weekly lessons in art, health, hygiene, science and social studies.  To encourage the development of gross motor skills and good coordination, there is a large gym area for free time play. The gym contains safe matted equipment. There is daily music through singing as well as daily story telling time.

While each day of school at St. Clare is structured, it’s a loose structure to give all of the children both the security of rules but also the freedom to grow and express themselves.

There are frequent guests to St. Clare. These guests are members of the community such as police officers, firemen and nurses. Children have free time throughout the day where they can play games, draw and engage in individual or group activities. Learning how to follow directions, share and work as a part of a team are natural extensions of daily classes.

St. Clare is a Catholic preschool and there are daily prayers as well as age appropriate religious education. Holidays are celebrated in the classroom; so are birthdays.

For more information or to schedule a visit, see the website of St. Clare Preschool.
