Focus On Zion Lutheran Preschool

Zion Lutheran Preschool is a Staten Island religious preschool that accepts children ages 3 and 4 into their program. Parents have the option of choosing the schedule that best fits the needs of their child and may choose from 2, 3 or 5 days of preschool per week. Zion Lutheran Preschool is open Monday through Friday from 9am until 3pm and follows the school schedule of the New York Public School system. Students who attended previously or are siblings of current students are given enrollment priority.

Zion Lutheran Preschool focuses on the whole child and considers spirituality to be as important as any other aspect of their life. Children attend chapel at least twice per month with their class and religious holidays are celebrated in the classrooms. Religion is incorporated primarily through stories, songs and celebrations.

Children are also prepared for future success at Zion Lutheran Preschool through their overall approach to learning. Children have both structured gym classes as well as unstructured outdoor play. The outdoor play areas are designed for children to develop their gross motor skills while enjoying the fresh air; the play areas are safe and secluded from the street.

Zion Lutheran Preschool believes that play is the best way for children to learn, and to that end there are craft projects, music and dance classes as well as activities designed to teach letters and numbers in an age appropriate manner. Children are taught social skills such as sharing and cooperation and Zion Lutheran Preschool strives to instill a lifetime love of learning in the children they teach.
