The BigSun Athletic Organization exists to provide an “opportunity for young athletes to learn and to excel.” For that purpose, the BigSun Scholarship was born.
To apply, high school students must be athletes. There are no restrictions as to which sport or sports an athlete plays. All athletes are welcome.
The scholarship committee is looking for student athletes to address the following topic in an essay:
What are your most important extracurricular or community activities? What made you join these activities? What made you continue to contribute to them?
The deadline is June 21, 2013. Send your completed applications and essays to email@example.com.
The only qualification other than being a student athlete is that you must be a high school senior or enrolled in a secondary institution. All New York City high school seniors who are active in a sport are encouraged to apply.
The winner will be notified within two weeks of the contest closing and the award sent as well. The winner’s name will be posted on the BigSun Athletics website. All winners will receive $500. The number of winners will be up to the discretion of the scholarship committee. For more information about the 2013 BigSun Scholarship, visit the organization’s website and read the qualifications closely. NYC Private Schools Blog wishes the best of luck to all student athletes who apply for this award.
