The James Beard Foundation scholarships are awarded for a variety of culinary disciplines. These include general culinary studies, pastry and baking, hotel and restaurant management, wine studies, nutrition, and food writing. Award amounts vary depending on who the donors are and how much donors give.
Scholarship applications are evaluated on a number of criteria, including grade point average, work experience, letters of recommendation, financial need, and extracurricular activities.
After all applications are received, a group of finalists are announced (usually about 125 students) and those finalists are reviewed by the scholarship committee participants. There’s not a lot of time left to apply so make sure you get your application for the James Beard Foundation Scholarship in soon.
