The York Prep School states that their

goal is to help students achieve success while upholding academic excellence. The Honors and Jump Start programs ensure that all students are appropriately challenged and supported. Technology is integrated into every aspect of learning.

The student teacher ratio is about 1:6, with an average of 8 hours of classroom time a day, and the York Prep school calendar is 180. York Prep has a tightly individualized admissions process and customized learning plan for each student, which is made easier with the low number of students per teacher.

According to the York Prep admissions materials:

We believe that potential York Prep students are initially attracted to the school based on the perception that students from diverse backgrounds can be challenged to excel and find success. York Prep’s personalized admissions process probes beyond test results for innate skills, interests, and potential that even high scores do not reveal. Since York Prep’s average class size is 15, with a 1:6 student-to-teacher ratio, teachers have the opportunity to tailor the curriculum in ways that will best suit both the needs of the class as a whole and the needs of students as individuals. Based on assessments and recommendations, we place students in flexible, ability-level groupings in math, foreign language, and the humanities/science areas, where the challenge is appropriate to students’ skill level to optimize academic success. Small class size also enables our faculty to have frequent, thorough, and meaningful contact with parents.

NYC Private Schools such as York Prep provide education with high standards.
