Feeding NYC This Holiday

Feeding NYC is a privately funded, not for profit organization that began shortly after the events of 9/11 in 2001. Employees and friends of LivePerson, Inc assembled and hand-delivered turkey dinners to disadvantaged families around New York for Thanksgiving, providing holiday meals to 40 families in Harlem that year. FeedingNYC has since grown to support thousands of families each year throughout the five boroughs of NYC.

These companies, all with significant ties to New York City, are providing either in-kind services, volunteers or cash donations to support the initiative.
Over 300 volunteers will convene at Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers on Tuesday, November 24 beginning at 6:00AM to assemble, pack and hand-deliver complete Thanksgiving meals to various shelters and housing facilities throughout New York City.
Founded in 2001 by LivePerson CEO Robert LoCascio, FeedingNYC supplied turkey dinners to 40 families in its first year of operation; the annual program has since grown dramatically and the organization expects to supply complete turkey dinners to more than 2,250 families this year. FeedingNYC works with support organizations — including Women in Need, Catholic Charities, the Jewish Federation of New York, Center Against Domestic Violence, Salvation Army, Bronx Works and Volunteers of America — to identify facilities where it can make the greatest impact.

Families and students from many of NYC schools, both public and private, join in to volunteer to charitable organizations and do their part to give a little back to the city they call home.
This year, a group of high school students from the Brooklyn private school Adelphi Academy is joining FeedingNYC to pack dinners and make deliveries.

The Adelphi Academy in Brooklyn, NYC is a small private, co-educational college preparatory day school. They offer classes from Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12. An especially diverse student body includes international students.

The Facts on The Adelphi Academy

A co-educational college preparatory day school for children in Pre-K through 12th grade.

Project Succeed is Adelphi Academy’s program for college bound students with learning disabilities.

The program addresses students of average to superior intelligence, having a selective (limited) array of learning disabilities, who can benefit from the school’s small classes and traditional liberal arts educational focus. At Adelphi there is daily emphasis on developing self-confidence, assertiveness skills, and organizational strategies.
